The Biswas Educational Foundation

Malati Sarkar

Malati’s father is not there, she was rescued by a person when he accosted her mentally challenged mother who was on the verge of throwing her into a lake when she was only a month old.

Sanjay Sen

Sanjay lost his father in 2008 due to severe Heart attack. Post his father’s death, his mother became unwell and got afflicted with Terminal Cancer.

Manisha is the youngest of 4 sisters. Coming from a very economically challenged family, Manisha lost her father early in life.


Niloy Dastidar

Niloy has been with The Biswas Educational Foundation since 2012. He lost his father very early in life. His mother worked in the agriculture sector and found it quite challenging to make both ends meet.

A: The Biswas Educational Foundation (TBEF) is a registered Public Charitable Trust with Trust Deed no.2401 on 28th April,2008. TBEF is a non-religious, non-political, non- profitable volunteer driven organization. TBEF operates a Destitute Home for deprived & single parent children. Over a period of time TBEF has evolved in multidimensional fields of education, health, and community development with a special focus on underprivileged children.

A: TBEF is located at Village Prasadpur, P.O Kusthia, Police Station Sonarpur, District 24 Parganas ( South) District, Kolkata-700150, West Bengal, India. The location is around 30 KMs on the outskirts of Kolkata.

A: TBEF operates a Destitute Home for residential accommodation of deprived and single-parent children belonging to the underprivileged section of the society. We are committed to discovering atrocities & injustice faced by people living near our surroundings & work towards providing relief to them especially destitute and single parent children. We keep track of such cases & rescue them from being exploited as soon as we receive information following all Government Rules & Regulations. Children are inducted from age 6+ & stay with us till they reach 18. We provide not only proper accommodation, nutritious food & education but also encourage children in their extra curricular activities & sports so that they can nurture their talents & realize their dreams. We have separate trainers for Sports, Music, Drawing along with teachers for separate subjects in remedial classes as per the Child’s Class.
TBEF also operates The South Calcutta Public School to deliver quality education to children belonging to the economically weaker section of the society in and around the locality at minimum cost, as well as to provide free education to the children of our Home. to the welfare of the deprived, destitute, orphans & single parent children from the underserved section of our society. Over a period of time TBEF has evolved in multidimensional fields of education, health, and community development with a special focus on underprivileged children.
TBEF has also been an active supporter of the larger community with Weekly Free Medical Camp for local people, Social Awareness Programmes and Support at times of Natural Calamities.

A: TBEF is committed to discovering atrocities & injustice faced by people living near our surroundings & work towards providing relief to them especially destitute and single parent children. The main target group are the most underprivileged and deprived Children of both the urban slum dwellers and rural village homes in the Southern 24 Parganas area of West Bengal.
  • Child whose both parents have deceased.
  • Child who has been abandoned (who are found moving aimlessly in the villages, on the streets and in the railway platforms etc.)
  • Child who is staying with old/weak grandparents.
  • Child from families whose surviving parents are weak and sick.
  • Child of extremely poor widowed mothers.

A: Every year we plan and enroll more destitute children in our facility so that we can reach out to more beneficiaries. We provide not only proper accommodation, nutritious food & education but also encourage children in their extra curricular activities & sports so that they can nurture their talents & realize their dreams. We have separate trainers for Sports, Music, Drawing along with teachers for separate subjects in remedial classes as per the Child’s Class. It is our endeavor to provide proper sports facility in our campus like running tracks, sports kits for our children like shoes for athletics etc so that they may improve in their performance and compete well at District, State & National level competitions. We also plan to setup facilities for Healthcare, Vocational Training, Higher Education and Professional courses for employability of youth as well as expand our School so that we may benefit more children & youth and make them employable.

A: With your kind support & encouragement, we can expand our work to impact more children as well as serve our existing children better. Some of the areas where you can support us include:

  • Sponsor for any event like Visit to the Zoo / Picnic / Educational excursion etc.
  • Donate any item for the Children like Clothes/ Books/ Stationery Kit/ Sports Goods etc
  • Donate for any infrastructure development of the campus like expansion of the School/ Children Homes etc.
  • Setting up of sports facilities like proper running tracks & other enablement in the campus.
