Over time, The Trust has expanded its focus to include education, health, and community development, particularly for underprivileged children.
We also support the larger community on a regular basis. Some of our activities are as mentioned below
Free Medical Camp
Since 2009, TBEF conducts a free medical health clinic once a week at our campus. It is headed by a qualified Doctor and a trained Nurse. In addition to free consultation with the Doctor, we also provide free medicines. On an average, as many as 120 patients per month belonging to the marginalized section of the society have benefited from these camps.
Support during Natural Calamity
A severe cyclone “Yaas” struck on 26th May 2021. The team of our Foundation visited the affected areas of Sunderbans and Namkhana to help out 400 odd families with relief. We also distributed relief to the 150 affected families of the surrounding villages of Prasadpur area of South 24 Parganas.
During June 2020, we had distributed 400 packets of ration to the "Amphan" cyclone affected people in Basanti (70 km from Kolkata) & Jharkhali (90 km from Kolkata) at the Sunderban Coastal area.
During the thunderstorm Aila in 2010, We visited a village named "Kumirmari" in the Sundarban area with enough relief fund in order to help those poor people who lost their own houses due to the sudden arrival of the thunderstorm.
Social Awareness Program
During the pandemic in 2020, TBEF and its local volunteers along with the members of 14 Gram Panchayats, Local MLA, and medical personals, visited 17 local villages (Sangur, Makrampur, Nazirhat etc.) and distributed 6600 masks, 2000 pc (100ml) sanitizers for free.
The team demonstrated the necessity to take simple measures as washing hands frequently, maintaining social distance and wearing mask to the local population. Oximeters were also distributed among the trained personnel of each village, so that oxygen levels could be checked from time to time.
Oxygen cylinders were supplied where necessary which saved many lives. Our team also distributed dry ration to many families who are jobless and are in financial crisis.
